Explore the new climbing paradise at Paleros

A new exciting attraction has been introduced in Paleros: the climbing fields. Created in the fall of 2023 by ClimbGreece in collaboration with the Municipality of Aktiou-Vonitsa and Paleros Bay, these fields offer climbers a unique opportunity to scale the beautiful landscapes of Sereka mountain and take in panoramic views of Paleros bay and the Ionian islands of Lefkada, Meganisi, Skorpios, and Kalamos.

About the Climbing Areas

1. **PalerosBay Field**
– Located at the foot of Sereka, PalerosBay field, as it was named by ClimbGreece, provides sweeping views of the Ionian Sea, ideal for breathtaking climbs overlooking the blue waters and nearby islands. This field is accessible from Paleros via Lepenioti Street and a scenic 15-minute walk from the designated parking area.

2. **Gerodimos and Pyrros Fields**
– Positioned on the northeast slope of Sereka, these fields offer climbers a rugged adventure on a hill known locally as Kastraki. Access these fields by following Agios Athanasios street, then taking a short hike through a scenic ravine to the base of Gerodimos. For Pyrros, a further 5-minute uphill trek from Gerodimos leads to this upper-level climbing spot with stunning views.

Each route is marked with a laser-engraved stainless steel label, ensuring that climbers have clear guidance while preserving the area’s natural charm. With meticulous work by Mountain Guides Aris Theodoropoulos and Dimitris Titopoulos, along with a dedicated team, the fields are designed for climbers of all levels.

When to Visit

Thanks to the variety of exposures on Sereka mountain, Paleros climbing areas are accessible year-round. In the summer, enjoy cooler climbs at PalerosBay in the morning and at Pyrros in the shade of the afternoon. In winter, the sunny faces of the fields make for a pleasant experience even during cooler days.
