Paleros Bay discussing Sustainability at KOMVOS Forum

We were honored to participate in the KOMVOS Forum, where discussions spanned fascinating fields such as shipping, space, and tourism. Representing the tourism sector, we had the privilege of sharing our vision and showcasing the concrete steps we are taking toward sustainability in tourism. By demonstrating how businesses can make a positive impact on the environment and local communities, we aim to inspire others to adopt responsible practices.

Here’s how we are leading the way:

Eco-Friendly Architecture:

Most of our buildings blend harmoniously into the natural landscape, providing energy efficiency and natural insulation.

Green roofs improve insulation and enhance local biodiversity.

Use of Natural Materials:

Our interiors feature recycled teak wood, stone sinks, stone resin bathtubs, and teak wood beds.

Energy Optimization:

We have installed solar panels at our Amethyst Selene suites which supply a big part of the energy needs.

We have installed LED lighting, heat pumps, and fan coil systems at our Amethyst Selene suites which  significantly reduces the energy consumption.

Water Sustainability:

We have installed biological septic tanks at Amethyst Selene which irrigate our gardens.

Nature Preservation:

Olive trees from our construction sites are carefully relocated and replanted.

Farm-to-Table Practices:

We maintain a 40,000 sq.m. farm growing seasonal vegetables and herbs using natural cultivation methods.

Fresh products from our farm and local producers are used for all dishes in our Yacht Club restaurant, which honors the greek and local cuisine.

Τable-to-Farm Practices:

Leftover food is composted and used in our farm or used to feed our animals, minimizing waste.

Cultural and Community Engagement:

We support local heritage through cultural tours and authentic cooking classes featuring local recipes and ingredients.

CSR initiatives include building playgrounds, organizing beach cleanups, sponsoring cultural events, and supporting blood donation drives.

We also organize our next steps which will further enhance our sustainability efforts. Specifically, in 2025 we plan the following:

75% of cleaning products will be organic, with eco-friendly paper products prioritized.

Microfiber cleaning cloths will reduce chemical waste.

Refillable soap systems will replace single-use bottles.

Comprehensive recycling bins will handle food waste for composting and materials for recycling.

A zero single-use plastic policy will replace plastics with biodegradable or reusable alternatives.

Participating in the KOMVOS Forum reinforced our commitment to shaping a more sustainable future for tourism. We are excited to continue making a difference and contributing to a healthier planet. 🌱
